Hey, a little update as to what I've been doing. I check in almost every day, but post sparingly.
I'm still in school, working on my Bachelor's in Communication (go figure,
). Things are getting interesting, because I am taking an Intro to Film course and can now break down elements of scenes and composition like I've wanted to.
In my own time, I'm doing a lot of sketches and artwork on paper that I haven't scanned, but now I'm really branching into digital media such as 3D and 2D graphics.
I am learning 3D modeling in Blender and it's going slow, but every time I make an improvement, it feels as fresh and as new as day one.
I'm not great at it yet, but I have created a few models and posted them on Sketchfab. You can find them here:
sketchfab.com/SaintOfTheDragon… Once I get really deep into materials and rendering, I might post a few of my still renders on this site, but for now I consider my body of work fairly unimpressive (in the best way, of course - leaves room for improvement, which keeps it fresh).
Affinity is a lovely program that features about 99% of the capability of Adobe Photoshop, except it's a one-time payment of $50. If you've been on my front page, you've probably already seen some doodles. They really pop because they're pretty much the only things in the recent past I've posted with color. I thought it would be great for learning the ins and outs of design and digital drawing, so my parents bought it for my birthday. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
I have this sick new keyboard - not a gaming keyboard or anything, but it's got this neat volume knob and buttons for Windows shortcuts I've never seen on other computers. It must be for audiophiles/editors or something, because of the play and pause buttons, and default music program shortcut key. The best part - it was only five bucks used at Goodwill. The best deal I wasn't even looking for! All it took was a little 20-minute run in the drying machine on high (to kill any potential bedbugs). I built my own computer, so I'm really into the customization bit. Not aesthetics, but functionality. Aesthetics don't hurt tho...
I also got a laptop so I could be mobile while I work, and so I can scan from any location in the house, but I've mostly been doing practical stuff like schoolwork on it.
Well, that's what I've been up to. If you're so inclined, drop in for a cup of digital coffee and say hi, tell me how you're doing. :coffee:
Wait, no... tea?
Looks like I'm out of coffee. I have tea. Drop in for some tea.
